Larry McKeithan is a Christian, husband, and a father. He is a member of the Rock Spring Baptist Church and currently serves as a deacon to many families within the church. He actively assists with the youth group in providing small group devotions to young men. Larry has been married for 25+ years to Karen and they have three wonderful children. Connor (23), Aidan (18), and Claudia (16). Karen has been a teacher at Bunn Elementary School for over 26 years. Their son, Connor, recently married his high school sweetheart, Rachel. They both graduated from East Carolina University where they majored in education and have returned home to Franklin County to serve as teachers in our community. Connor is at Franklinton High School as a Physical Education Teacher and baseball coach and Rachel is at Long Mill Elementary School as a 4th grade teacher. Aidan is a freshman at East Carolina University, where he is majoring in electrical engineering. Claudia is a sophomore at Bunn High School and plays travel volleyball. Larry has over 30 years of law enforcement experience. He started his law enforcement career at Bunn Police Department. He left Bunn and went to Zebulon Police Department where he served in many capacities. He worked patrol, Investigation division, Sergeant over patrol, started the K-9 program, and worked undercover with Wake County Interagency Drug Task Force. He left there and became the School Director at Wilson Technical Community College for the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET). He was in charge of the budget and administrative duties as the director. He left the college where he became a North Carolina State Trooper. This is where he spent the majority of his career. He worked on the road, ran several basic schools, and trained Cadets to become Troopers. While in his career, he also oversaw the wellness program for the state as well as the Benefits Section of the patrol. The benefits section consisted of overseeing the state health plan, retirement, FMLA, workers’ comp., and return to duty for on and off duty injuries. This was not only for the patrol, but for State Capitol Police, Emergency Management, National Guard, ALE, and SBI. During the benefits section he was also responsible for the budget and administrative duties. In addition, he did new hire orientation and onboarding for the patrol, State Capitol Police, Emergency Management, National Guard, ALE, and SBI.
